I understand that some banks or companies will check my credit report before they approve a credit card or loan application. How do I know what information is in that report?
The only way to know what is in your credit report file is to ask to see a copy of it. A new law allows each individual to request a copy of their credit report once a year at no cost. To learn how to request a report follow the instructions listed at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/financial/creditreport.html
Some of the publications on this site are Adobe Acrobat
pdf files. For more information about pdf files or to download a free
